Red Bull driver Max Verstappen has offered his thoughts regarding the prospect of getting married to his girlfriend Kelly Piquet. The 2024 Formula One season was monumental for the Dutch driver, as he became only the fifth driver to win four consecutive F1 championships while embarking on a new journey in his personal life.
The 27-year-old announced that he will become a father for the first time in 2025, revealing that Piquet is pregnant with their first child. In his interview with Blick, he gave a straight response to the prospect of getting married to the 35-year-old, saying:
"Not yet, but it will happen soon."
Verstappen, fully focused on his new foray into fatherhood, said on the Talking Bulls podcast that he had some training on that front with Penelope, Pique's daughter with former F1 driver Daniil Kvyat:
"Yeah, it's super exciting, of course. Luckily, I did get a little bit of training with Penelope, seeing her grow up really for like, four years, which has been also really, really nice. But yeah, for sure, when it's like, going to be fully your own, it's going to be a different challenge, but I'm looking forward to it."
Max Verstappen resides in his Monaco apartment with his partner and the five-year-old.
Max Verstappen provides an update on his future with Red Bull
Red Bull driver Max Verstappen has said he would continue to race with the Austrian team until his contract expires at the end of the 2028 season (via F1):
“I’m loving it, I have a contract until 2028. After that, I don’t want to think about it yet. A lot of things can happen. But for now, I’m very happy with where I’m at. That’s always a discussion I had with my dad when I was a kid.
I always had this thing that I said, ‘We’ll see, whatever,’ and my dad couldn’t (understand that), ‘What do you mean, we’ll see? That’s not an approach.’ And I’d say, ‘But that’s me!’ I don’t like to stress out on things. I don’t like to overthink or overcomplicate stuff."
Verstappen signed a long-term contract with Red Bull after he won his first championship at the end of the 2021 season. He has stuck to the deal amid reports of a potential move to Mercedes to replace Lewis Hamilton throughout the 2024 season.
