McLaren, the current Formula 1 constructor leader is set to make an announcement soon. The iconic British team has released a teaser on social media, with the reveal date set for October 15, 2024.
Following a few challenging seasons, McLaren's fortunes began to turn around towards the end of the 2023 season. Despite initial struggles with raw pace at the beginning of this year, the implementation of crucial upgrade packages ahead of its rivals proved to be a game-changer for the 58-year-old team. This strategic move propelled McLaren's performance in the 2024 season, elevating them from the midfield to the top of the constructor championship.
Apart from performance upgrades, McLaren also implemented special liveries on multiple Grand Prix weekends this season (two special decals were used in Japan and Monaco respectively). Although the team has already implemented most of its major performance packages for the year, the Papaya Orange outfit will likely reveal an all-new livery for the upcoming US Grand Prix weekend at Austin.
Here's a look at the cryptic teaser posted on X by McLaren.
"15.10.24. 👀"
The shiny chrome swirls, highlighted subtly by red, yellow, green, and blue shades likely point toward a connection to the US-based technology giant Google, which happens to be McLaren's primary partner for F1 and Extreme E teams.
Although there is no clear indication of the same, a comment from Google Chrome's X account on the post likely points in the direction of a new livery.
"Tomorrow is going to be I C O N I C 👀" Google Chrome's reply to McLaren's teaser read.
"OMG CHROME?", "Chrome will make a comeback..," - McLaren fans respond to the teaser, speculating the comeback of the classic chrome livery from the early 2000s
McLaren's announcement teaser on X has got Formula 1 fans excited. Speculation of a classic chrome-like livery from the early 2000s era on the team's MCL38 race car has been in full flow.
Here's a look at a few replies to McLaren's announcement post on X:
"OMG CHROME?"
"Chrome will make a comeback.."
"@ZulTheBear so they doing special liveries every race now," A fan sarcastically commented.

"Another Chrome livery??" Another fan questioned.
Apart from the special livery part, McLaren also announced a partnership with the US-based telecommunication company T-Mobile.
“We are delighted to welcome T-Mobile to the McLaren Racing family. As our US fan base continues to grow, it is great to be able to work with more partners that will help us increase our presence and ability to activate with our fans in these regions,” Matt Dennington, McLaren's co-chief commercial officer commented.
With six races to go, the Papaya Orange squad currently holds a comfortable lead of 41 points over their title rival Red Bull Racing.
