A report claims that Adidas has sealed the deal with Mercedes as their apparel brand and will partner with the German team from 2025. Several F1 fans reacted to this report after it surfaced on social media platforms.
The Silver Arrows have had a top apparel sponsor in Tommy Hilfiger. The luxury brand has been part of the F1 team ever since 2018. Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton also became the brand's ambassador the same year, further cementing the relationship.
Puma has been another popular brand that has been with Mercedes since their early days in 2012. They have also provided various team and fan apparel, including race suits, shoes, caps, and more.
Recently, however, it was reported by SportBusiness that Mercedes could replace both the brands mentioned above with Adidas. The German apparel brand could enter the sport as a sponsor not only for Mercedes but for Audi as well. The report further claimed that it will partner with the eight-time constructors' champions from 2025, and with Audi from 2026.
Many F1 fans reacted to the rumored partnership between Adidas and Mercedes. Some were thrilled to see the popular lifestyle brand entering the sport. They eagerly discussed next year's race suit designs and fan merchandise that they could buy.
"omg so Merc might get more cute merch??" one fan wrote.
"Yes next year team kits will be fire," another chimed in.
"The comeback of adidas Motorsports line," someone added.
On the other hand, one fan questioned about where were the official announcements from both the F1 team and the German apparel brand about their partnership. As of now, these are only speculations and nothing has been confirmed by the team or the brand.
Some also questioned what would happen to Tommy Hilfiger, the brand that has been connected to the Brackley-based team since 2018.
"Oh cool! Can you link the announcement from Mercedes and/or Adidas? I can’t seem to find them," one fan questioned.
"So what about Tommy Hilfiger? I am a fan of these two clothing brands and merc," another asked.
"RIP Tommy?" a follower wrote.
