The Northampton Police recently released a statement on the 'sabotage' e-mail on Lewis Hamilton. The police department said that no "criminal offenses" were found in the mail that garnered all the attention.
An anonymous email arrived in Hamilton's name that had F1 boss Stefano Domenicali, FIA boss Mohammed Ben Sulayem, and other major players' names on the paddock mentioned. The mail arrived on June 10, just the day after the Canadian Grand Prix race.
"No criminal offenses were found to have been committed. However, advice was given regarding any further emails the team may receive," said the Northampton Police in a statement by their spokeswoman after they received a formal complaint by the Mercedes AMG F1 team.
The mail contained messages that 'clearly' indicated that Mercedes and Toto Wolff were trying to undermine Lewis Hamilton by 'systematically sabotaging' the Briton's F1 car, strategy, and mental health.
However, Toto Wolff declined such 'vague' claims and said that the mail was 'vindictive.' Nevertheless, Wolff confirmed that he is doing everything to help Hamilton have his best days at Mercedes before he leaves for Ferrari next season.
"These conspiracy theorists, I have zero respect for, because they have no brain. We want a car that wins races and championships and who doesn’t get that should be watching another sport," said Wolff in a statement as per The Independent.
Besides this, he also added, "It’s good to see that Lewis has had a great weekend because it has been a while that he has been on the receiving end and strategy has worked against him. But today it went in his favour, so I am happy we have that podium for him because it has been a while.”
Lewis Hamilton's performances after the sabotage e-mail
Lewis Hamilton delivered a stronger performance following the 'sabotage' e-mail that grabbed all the attention. The seven-time world champion had the best weekend so far this season, as he claimed his first podium finish of the season.
Besides his decent and ever-improving Free Practice session performances, the Briton performed brilliantly in qualifying and then in the main race. Hamilton qualified in P4, only behind pole-sitter Lando Norris, Max Verstappen, and George Russell.
In the race, the 39-year-old got the better of his teammates, Russell and Carlos Sainz, after having back-to-back wheel-to-wheel tussles on track. All in all, the 'sabotage' e-mail turned his fate on the positive side.
