Mick Schumacher has been out of a Formula 1 seat since the end of the 2022 season. However, the son of legendary racer Michael Schumacher is now rumored to be in contention to join the Audi F1 team next season.
Schumacher began his racing career in karting. The young German kept progressing through the junior Formula divisions, winning the F3 European and F2 championships in 2018 and 2020, respectively. Being a part of the Ferrari Driver Academy, he was offered a multi-year deal with Haas F1 (which uses Ferrari's powertrains). After competing in 2021 and 2022, the #47 driver was replaced by Nico Hulkenberg in 2023.
Now, ahead of the 2025 season, he has emerged as a contender for the upcoming Audi F1 team. The German team's new chief Mattia Binotto spoke about Schumacher during an interview with the Italian publication Corriere della Sera.
“We are definitely evaluating him. “I met him and spoke to him. I have known him for a long time having been part of the Ferrari Driver Academy. I know his strengths and advantages. He is one of the names we have in mind,” Binnoto said.
The aforementioned news was also shared on X by Motorsport.com. Here's a look at the post, captioned:

"Talent has not been nurtured correctly" - Former F1 boss Guenther Steiner claims Mick Schumacher needs to employ a manager or advisor to mentor him
Guenther Steiner, ex-team principal of Haas F1, believes that Mick Schumacher is not ready to navigate in the F1 world without guidance. He is of the opinion that the young German racer's talent had not been 'nurtured' properly.
"If I had my time with Mick again, I would encourage him to employ a manager and/or an adviser. Somebody who has experience in racing and who can mentor him. You cannot go into a major sport with the amount of responsibility and pressure he had on his shoulders without having someone like that in your entourage," Steiner wrote in his new book called Unfiltered via the Mirror.
"His father, Michael, had become world champion at the age of 22 and had (manager) Willi Weber by his side for years. Why didn't Mick have someone like that? Look, Mick Schumacher has plenty of talent - that is not up for debate - but, in my opinion, that talent has not been nurtured correctly."
As for Steiner, he has assumed the role of an F1 analyst and has been seen collaborating with various podcasters on YouTube lately.
