Williams F1 driver Alex Albon is enjoying a well-deserved break from the racing season with his girlfriend, Muni 'Lily' He. The Anglo-Thai racer has also shared some photos of their getaway on social media.
Much like any budding racer, Albon began his career in karting. After winning several competitions around Europe, the 28-year-old driver transitioned to junior Formula divisions. Albon steadily progressed through Formula Renault, Formula 3, GP3, and Formula 2.
Albon joined Toro Rosso (Red Bull Racing's sister team) in 2019 alongside Russian driver Daniil Kvyat. Witnessing his progression, RBR promoted the #23 driver to partner Max Verstappen mid-season. After two years alongside the Dutchman, Albon was demoted to the role of reserve driver to accommodate Sergio Perez in 2021
Despite the odds, Albon eventually made his way back to the F1 grid with Williams Racing in 2022 and has been their star driver since then. Now, after a demanding first half of the 2024 campaign, the Anglo-Thai racer is enjoying some well-deserved downtime with his girlfriend and professional golfer, Muni He.
Albon shared a few pictures on his Instagram page, along with the caption,
Very demure. 🤌
"Very cutesy😌," Muni He wrote in response.
The post has received plenty of reactions from fans.
"i love when f1 drivers are chronically online," a fan wrote, sharing the screenshot of Albon's Instagram post on X.
"my fave grid couple oh my lord" Another one stated, resharing the aforementioned X post.
"Switzerland and Furkapass?" Questioned a fan.
"did lily tell you to caption it that," Another fan questioned, teasing Albon.
"Wot no posh yacht? ⛵️" A fan asked, with a hint of sarcasm.
"GT3 RS in the alps it doesn't get better than this 🥰" Another fan wrote, complimenting Albon's choice of car.
“Alex had a good opportunity, including in a race-winning car – and he’s here” Williams Team Principal James Vowles praised Alex Albon's commitment to the team
Despite an overall poor performance from Williams Racing's FW46 car, Alex Albon remains committed to the team. The 28-year-old has extended his stay with the iconic British outfit by signing a multi-year contract until 2026.
Since the beginning of the 2024 Formula 1 season, Albon has been complaining about reliability issues with the car. The Thai driver has DNFed thrice in the 14 races so far, while managing only two top-ten finishes—ninth in Monaco and Great Britain.
However, Albon believes that the team has the potential to become competitive soon. Williams Team Principal James Vowles praised Alex Albon's commitment to the team.
“Alex had a good opportunity, including in a race-winning car – and he’s here. And that tells you he buys into the journey we are on, he understands the journey we are on, and for Williams, that was a massive nod of confidence in what we’re doing and where we’re going,” he stated. Apart from retaining Albon, Williams Racing has also roped in three-time F1 race winner and current Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz for the 2025 season.
