Oscar Piastri recently shared how he celebrated his first race win at the 2024 Hungarian GP. The Australian said that he had a sweet moment with his girlfriend after he reached home from Hungary.
The 23-year-old took the chequered flag at Budapest in 2024, winning his first F1 race. Though his teammate, Lando Norris, took pole position, he managed to take the lead in the first few laps of the Grand Prix. He led most of the race before McLaren tried to protect Norris from Lewis Hamilton and made him undercut the Australian.
After the undercut, McLaren asked Norris to give the lead back to Piastri, even though the latter was not fast enough to catch the former. Eventually, the British driver played the team game and gave the lead to his junior teammate so that he could win his first race.
A week after the race win, Oscar Piastri sat with Sky Sports for an exclusive interview. He explained that his flight back home after the Hungarian GP was delayed by several hours. He shared that when he arrived home late at night, he cuddled with his girlfriend, Lily Zneimer, before going to bed since he was tired from traveling.
"So I got home at 5 am, just because I was flying. My girlfriend was waiting at home, so...yeah, I don't know, had a cuddle with her and then we went straight to bed because we were both exhausted," Piastri said.

Apart from meeting his girlfriend, Oscar Piastri also shared how he celebrated his first win with other racing drivers, including Lando Norris.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he explained that he flew back home with Lando Norris, Alex Albon, and IMSA driver Ed Jones. He added that since the flight was delayed, he, Alex Albon, and Ed Jones ate at McDonald's during a layover, and also played Monopoly on the plane back home.
"In the flight delay, there was little bit of food in the lounge, but nothing that was really taking it fancy. McDonald's was just round the corner, so we went for it. It was me, Alex Albon, and one of Lando's friends, also a race driver, Ed Jones. Lando stayed behind for that one, but we demolished the McDonald's. Played Monopoly on the plane home, so that was the celebration. Very revetting and hardcore!" Piastri went on.
After the Hungarian GP, Oscar Piastri is in fifth place in the drivers' championship standings with 149 points, while Lando Norris is in second place with 189 points. The table is led by Red Bull's Max Verstappen with 265 points.
