Max Verstappen and Lando Norris discussed how Charles Leclerc only received a reprimand for his collision in FP3 with the McLaren driver. Both Verstappen and Norris were puzzled after learning of the decision.

During the third practice session of the 2024 F1 Spanish GP, Charles Leclerc was initially impeded by McLaren's Lando Norris. Leclerc was on a flying lap when Norris' car suddenly slowed down in Turn 5. Since the Ferrari driver's pace was higher, he passed the McLaren racer and made contact with him. The rear left tire of Leclerc's SF-24 collided hard with Norris' front wing.

The race stewards noted the incident and summoned both drivers after FP3. They watched various footage and angles of the incident and talked to both drivers.

Right before the qualifying session was about to end for the Spanish GP, the race stewards decided to close the case by reprimanding Charles Leclerc. Meanwhile, Lando Norris took pole position by beating Max Verstappen's time in qualifying.

After the session, both Verstappen and Norris were talking to each other when the former revealed that Leclerc only received a reprimand. Norris was visibly puzzled and shocked that the Ferrari driver was not penalized for his on-track antics at FP3 after being impeded. The McLaren driver stated how his front wing was completely ruined due to the collision.

"It's quite crazy he got a reprimand," Verstappen said.
"That's what he got? My whole front wing was f****d!" Norris exclaimed.
"I know, yeah," the Red Bull driver concluded.

Charles Leclerc shares his point of view on his collision with Lando Norris in Spanish GP FP3

Charles Leclerc recently also spoke about the incident with Lando Norris in the Spanish GP's FP3. After the qualifying session, he explained his side of the story.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, Leclerc said that he simply misjudged the position of his and Norris' car after aborting his fast lap. He added that he was trying not to impede other fast cars that could be approaching behind him.

"My version is very simple. Lando exited the pit lane and I was behind on a push lap then when he aborted I also aborted it. I braked to be alongside him and I misjudged it," Leclerc said.
"On the right, I didn’t want to impede either the cars behind so I was a bit in the middle by being frustrated and looking in a mirror to try not to impede and we collided but it was a misunderstanding more than anything,” he added.

In the qualifying session, Charles Leclerc had a decent run and secured P5. On the other hand, Lando Norris had a great qualifying session and will start the Spanish GP from pole position, alongside Max Verstappen.
