F1 fans were disappointed after learning that former Haas F1 team principal Guenther Steiner won't return to the sport for several months.

The Italian-American was let go of his duties as the team boss of the only American team on the grid on January 10 by team owner Gene Haas. In his first appearance after losing his job, Steiner clarified that he wasn't looking for any job on the grid at the moment and was happy enjoying his time off from the sport.

Speaking with the media, including RacingNews365, Steiner claimed that he endured 10 tough years with the team while informing about his plans.

"At the moment, I just want to chill out a little bit. It was 10 tough years, and I've got plenty of stuff to do - there is plenty to clean up at home. It is also good to stay with the family, my daughter is 14 years old, and so she is quite demanding.
"Trying to manage that seems to be more difficult than running an F1 team at the moment, so I'll be doing this for a few months."

F1 fans took to social media to give their reaction to Steiner's comments, with one fan claiming that the Netflix series Drive to Survive will suffer from his exclusion:

"No more good Drive to Survive episodes anymore."

Some of the fans suggested that Netflix might want to recruit the former team boss:

Guenther Steiner chimes in on his exit from the Haas F1 team

Guenther Steiner stated that he wasn't interested in the team's future as he was no longer part of the project.

He spoke about the current model of the Haas F1 team and how the COVID-19 pandemic changed the sport and its model. He said (via PlanetF1):

“Since we have had this model, Formula 1 has changed a lot. We saw during COVID-19 how much bigger it grew. How much different it got with the budget cap, how we used the budget cap. If you look at all the other teams, they were all gearing up. They are not gearing up now.
"They started to gear up, some three years ago, some years ago, and some last year. I don’t know Gene Haas’ plans for the future. He didn’t share them with me. He doesn’t have to, by the way. I’m actually not interested in it anymore.”

It would be fascinating to see how Haas F1 performs under the new leadership and yields better results than in the past two years.
