F1 fans were left heartbroken after seeing a picture of former Visa Cash App RB driver Daniel Ricciardo wearing a 'I'm retired' cap on social media. The Aussie driver was dropped from the Faenza-based outfit at the end of the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix last month after he finished P16 in the race.

The 35-year-old was driving on eggshells, ever since the summer break given the cloud around his future with the Austrian team and with Red Bull junior Liam Lawson in the waiting. Despite performing well in the past 10 races, the eight-time race winner was inconsistent when it came to scoring points against his teammate, Yuki Tsunoda.

Both Red Bull and Daniel Ricciardo confirmed that he would be out for the remainder of the season, but there has been no official confirmation regarding his retiring from the sport.

However, in a picture floating on social media that was shared by Sky Sports F1, the former Red Bull driver was spotted wearing a cap that said:

"I'm retired - having a good time is my job."

F1 fans took to social media to give their reactions to Ricciardo's latest picture on X that seemingly confirmed his retirement, with one fan left heartbroken and in denial, saying:

"Aah...that's going to leave a lot of people sad I guess," another commented.

"Thank you Daniel for all those years, been an absolute pleasure watching you drive," said a fan.
"Bro wtf. You could still have tried many things in other categories. And there’s always a chance of coming back in F1 if something crazy happens," claimed another.
"WHY!!!!!!!!" expressed another.

Red Bull team boss offers a position to Daniel Ricciardo

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner stated that they have offered Daniel Ricciardo an "ambassadorial role" for the Milton-Keynes-based outfit after his exit from RB.

Speaking on the F1 Nation podcast, Horner said:

“Daniel is just a brilliant character, a brilliant human being. He lights up a room when he walks into it, he’s got that infectious smile. I hope he stays around the sport. We’ve made it very clear that we want him to remain in an ambassadorial capacity with the team."

"Of course, one never really knows. If Liam doesn’t get the job done, if Checo [Perez] doesn’t get the job done… We know what Daniel’s capability is. But I think for him, he knows at the age that he’s at, he’s had a great career [with] so many memories. The most disgusting thing ever was drinking champagne out of his sweaty boot, but he made it his own!”

Daniel Ricciardo has not made any public appearance, ever since announcing his exit from RB after the Singapore GP on his social media.
