Audi F1 have decided to part ways with Andreas Seidl and Oliver Hoffmann, Sauber's two main men in the operation, and bring in Mattia Binotto. Following this, fans have shared their reactions on social media, including linking Carlos Sainz with the German brand.
Amid Kick Sauber's turbulent season, Audi made the instrumental changes after Seidl and Hoffmann failed to improve the Hinwil-based team's performance. The team, with drivers Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou, are in P10 in the Constructors' Championship and yet to score a point.
Seidl had the role of the Chief Executive Officer of Sauber Motorsport, and Oliver Hoffmann worked as the Director of Audi AG. Amid the reshuffle, Binotto is going to take over as the "head of operative management and sporting success of the racing team", as described by Audi.
In 2021, Sainz had arrived at Ferrari under Binotto's leadership. With the latter's move being announced and Sainz leaving the Prancing Horse garage at the end of this season, fans online have been speculating about the possible arrival of Sainz at Audi F1.
One fan predicted Carlos Sainz's next move, saying,
"Now Sainz definitely will join Audi."
Another fan looked forward to Mattia Binotto's arrival at Audi:
"Binotto is going to cook, he made the best ferrari in the last years."
Another fan wrote about Hulkenberg: "All I can say is Hulk can't catch a f*****g break in his career."
"Honestly he [Seidl] was the reason Hulk signed with Audi. Nico should not have signed so early for next season," another fan wrote on Nico Hulkenberg's decision to sign for Audi.
A fan wondered about the outgoing Andreas Seidl, "Seidl joining Ferrari in some position?"
Audi's statement for the major structural changes in Audi F1
Audi's Chief Executive Officer Gernot Dollner has recently opened up on the structural changes they instituted before setting foot on the grid. Dollner, as per Auto Motor Und Sport, revealed that the major reason behind the changes were to streamline the operations and make them efficient.
"Our goal is to bring the entire Formula 1 project up to F1 speed through clear management structures, clear responsibilities, reduced interfaces and efficient coordination processes. To do this, the team must be able to act independently and quickly."
"I would like to thank Oliver and Andreas for their important development work and the commitment with which they have prepared our entry into Formula 1 so far," added Dollner.
Interestingly, there have been some reports saying that Aston Martin team principal Mike Krack could also join Audi F1 in the future to work alongside Mattia Binotto. However, there is no confirmation of that as of now.
