George Russell shared pictures of his yellow Mercedes after he crashed it in the snow in Sweden during a promotional event. The British driver is enjoying his off-season after a grueling and intense 2024 campaign that saw him win twice in Austria and Las Vegas.

The 26-year-old had a solid 2024 season as he outclassed his former teammate and seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton in both qualifying and the races. He also in turn became the team leader for the Brackley-baed outfit for 2025 after Hamilton's exit to Ferrari on a multi-year deal.

On Instagram, George Russell shared a series of images of doing some promotional activity in the snow in Sweden, which included him crashing his yellow Mercedes. He wrote in the caption:

"I couldn’t wait until next month to get behind the wheel again 😅 This place never ceases to amaze me! Always incredible driving on the frozen lakes of Sweden. Limits are made to be pushed after all!!"

Ahead of the 2025 season, George Russell will have Kimi Antonelli as his new Mercedes teammate, with the rookie replacing Lewis Hamilton.

Former F1 champion gives his take on the George Russell-Kimi Antonelli lineup at Mercedes

Former F1 world champion Nico Rosberg feels 2025 would be a crucial year for George Russell as team principal Toto Wolff's interest in signing Max Verstappen has not completely subsided.

The 2016 world champion said on Sky F1:

“George Russell is not safe at all because Toto still wants Max and he will try again for 2026 because ‘give up’ does not appear in Toto’s vocabulary. If Max does become available – and I do think it’s a possibility – then it is a shootout between George and Kimi next year."
"And it’s a lot of pressure on George because he really has everything to lose next year. He should be the one ahead internally because Kimi is 18 and he’s completely new and in a full-pressure situation,” he added.

Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko had a similar opinion as he claimed that the three-time F1 race winner would be in "danger" this year. He told Sport.de:

“We saw it [Antonelli’s talent] at Monza, although I don’t understand why they put him in the car on that circuit. He was very fast on his first three laps, but on the fourth lap, he went into the barriers. I think if he uses his skills well, which he has, he can be a danger to Russell.”

George Russell's contract with Mercedes expires at the end of the 2025 season but many expect him to sign an extension for a couple more years.
