On New Year's Eve, Mercedes driver George Russell shared a series of images from the year 2024, featuring special moments with his family and girlfriend Carmen Mundt. The post also had photographs of Lewis Hamilton, Peter Bonnington, and snippets from his on-track journey.

Russell entered his third year with Mercedes in 2024 and finished P6 in the drivers championship standings. He accumulated 245 points with two victories. The Brit also had the upper hand over his teammate Hamilton in the majority of qualifying rounds.

Meanwhile, ahead of the crucial season in 2025, Russell is enjoying his off-season by spending quality time with his family and girlfriend Mundt. During Christmas, the couple went on a skiing trip and embraced the holiday season together.

On New Year's Eve, Russell recalled his best memories from the year and shared multiple photographs of those moments on Instagram. The post featured images of his holidays with girlfriend Carmen Mundt. In addition, he added a photo of Lewis Hamilton and his race engineer, Peter Bonnington.

"Thanks for the memories this year🙏 2025, here we go!!" he wrote in the caption.

George Russell made his debut in F1 in 2019 with Williams Racing. He replaced Valtteri Bottas in Mercedes in 2022 and has since been a consistent performer. He matched his teammate Hamilton's pace and outqualified him on many occasions.

In 2023, Mercedes signed a two-year extension contract with Russell. Hamilton also agreed to a similar commitment but he opted out of the deal after one year to switch to Ferrari.

As Hamilton leaves for Maranello in 2025, Russell is set to become Mercedes' lead and senior driver. His experience will be crucial for his new teammate, Andrea Kimi Antonelli. The latter is only 18 years old and made his F2 debut in 2024. While the Silver Arrows trust his raw talent, his inexperience could play a big role in his performance.

Mercedes driver George Russell claimed that if he had his hands on a McLaren or Red Bull car, he would have won a championship in the 2024 season. In a conversation with Daily Mail, Russell was asked if they could have stood a chance to win a title in MCL38 or RB20. To this, he replied:

"Yes, absolutely. For sure."

Russell also shared his thoughts on the Norris-Verstappen battle.

"Max has won once in the last 12 races, so he is very beatable. The difference [between Verstappen and Norris] is that when Max had the chance, he won, whereas his rivals, who should have beaten him this year, did not."

Russell is yet to win a championship in F1 since his debut in 2019. With Mercedes losing its dominance after 2021, the British driver has mostly experienced the rough phase of the team.
