F1 fans were left shocked by Alpine F1 driver Pierre Gasly's new haircut at the beginning of the new year. The French driver had a fantastic end to the 2024 season as he guided the Enstone-based team to a P6 in the constructors' championship ahead of the likes of Haas and RB.
Gasly finished in P10 in the driver's standings ahead of the ever-reliable Nico Hulkenberg by a single point. But heading into the new year, he left everyone shocked with his new shaved head in a photo embracing his girlfriend Francisca "Kika" Cerqueira Gomes. F1 fans reacted on X, with one saying:
"PIERRE GASLY IS BALD??? this is what driving for Alpine does to a mf."
"Looks like a transplant ngl. The added confidence will make him even faster."
"Girl is Pierre Gasly BALD now???"
Here are a few more reactions.
"If Charles (Leclerc) lets a razor get anywhere near his hair I am sending Pierre Jean-Gasly a b@mb to his house," a fan said.
"Guys please stop thirsting over bald Gasly im getting tempted to call the cops on you every time," another wrote.
"Wasn’t expecting to see Gasly without hair in 2025 but here we are!" a third said.
It was a difficult start to the 2024 campaign for the French team given that it had produced an overweight car that had left it at the back of the grid. However, after making some incremental gains after the summer break, it hit in the last phase of the season and overtook Haas and RB in the title race. Pierre Gasly was an instrumental part of the comeback.
Pierre Gasly reflects on Alpine's P6 at the end of the 2024 season
Alpine F1 driver Pierre Gasly said it was "unthinkable" at the start of the 2024 campaign that the French team would finish P6 in the Constructor's Championship (via Motorsportweek):
“Sixth in the Constructors was unthinkable at the start of the year. The lows of the season were extremely low and the highs were extremely high. The first part of this season was very tough for all of us on the team with an underperforming car.
But very proud of the reaction of the guys and the way they’ve managed to bring that much performance to give me a car on the last few races which really allowed me to perform really, really strongly."
The five-time podium sitter signed a contract extension with Alpine to race for it at least until the end of 2026 and have a new teammate in Jack Doohan for the 2025 season.
