Red Bull driver Max Verstappen's girlfriend Kelly Piquet flaunted her baby bump with the former as the pair welcomed the New Year together. The Dutch driver had a year to remember in 2024 as he successfully defended his driver's championship despite stiff competition from McLaren driver Lando Norris and became a four-time F1 world champion.
On the personal front, he and his partner Kelly Piquet, the daughter of former three-time F1 world champion Nelson Piquet Sr., announced that they would become parents in 2025 as the 35-year-old is pregnant with their first child.
Piquet already shares a five-year-old daughter named Penelope Kvyat with former F1 driver Daniil Kvyat, whom she dated between 2015 and 2019, before starting a relationship with Verstappen in late 2020.
The Brazilian model posted a series of pictures on Instagram in which she was seen celebrating New Year's with the Red Bull driver and her five-year-old daughter along with a group of friends. She could also be seen flaunting her baby bump in the pictures. She wrote:
"A beautiful start to 2025 with special people."
Max Verstappen expresses his views on becoming a father for the first time
Red Bull driver Max Verstappen stated that the news of him becoming a father for the first time was "super exciting" and he was "looking forward" to it.
While appearing on the Talking Bulls podcast, the 27-year-old said:
"Yeah, it's super exciting, of course. Luckily, I did get a little bit of training with Penelope. Seeing her grow up really for like, four years, which has been also really, really nice. But yeah, for sure, when it's like, going to be fully your own, it's going to be a different challenge, but I'm looking forward to it."
When speaking about the topic of taking a paternity break during the Abu Grand Prix weekend last month, he added (via Motorsport.com):
"Honestly I have done it already, so it is not like it is completely new for me. Now it is my DNA, let’s say it like that, but I think it is absolutely fine and I know the baby will be in good hands anyway. So for me, you focus on your racing and then go back to your family. I never considered taking a year out. It is not on my mind."
On the track, Verstappen finished the 2024 season strongly as he claimed P1 in the driver's championship and scored 437 points with a gap of 63 points to Lando Norris in an inferior car.
Apart from becoming a father in 2025, the Dutch driver would also have a shot at becoming only the second driver in F1 history apart from Michael Schumacher to win the driver's title five times in a row.
