Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko recently heaped praise on Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey, as he claimed that the latter wasn't just great at the aerodynamics of the cars but also 'outstanding' at other aspects as well. The aero wizard joined the Austrian team at the beginning of the 2006 season when they were just newcomers in the sport and were known for lavish parties more than on-track performances.

Under the technical leadership of Newey, Red Bull became one of the most decorated teams in F1 history with over 100 wins and seven driver's and six constructor's championships in his 19-year tenure with them.

During an interview with "GrandPrix247", Helmut Marko spoke about some fascinating aspects of Adrian Newey that made him outstanding. He said:

“Adrian was very important for Red Bull Racing. You know, he came with a knowledge of how to win championships. He won with McLaren, he won with Williams. So he helped to set up the factory, to get the necessary tools and how to work. He also brought some people with him."
"And what is outstanding about Adrian for me is his or, I should say, his knowledge about everything. He’s not only aerodynamics. He knows about strategy. He knows about mechanical grip and all that. He looks at the car, and if there are problems he draws it on a board and they transfer it into a digital body to work with," he added.

Red Bull team boss praises Adrian Newey for his contribution to RB17 hypercar

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner stated that the RB17 hypercar was Adrian Newey's utopia and one of his parting gifts to the Austrian team as he prepares for his exit in early 2025.

Speaking with "Autocar" on day two of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Horner was left enamored by the RB17's design and hilariously remarked that even three-time world champion and Red Bull driver Max Verstappen would also struggle in the hypercar. He said (via RacingNews365):

“This car is about is basically Adrian's utopia. It's him let off the leash. There are no FIA constraints, there's no cost cap. You can see influences from all his cars over the years. It has an insane amount of performance."
“Even Max Verstappen would struggle to extract the amount of performance that this car has, such as the level of downforce. It's a celebration now of Adrian's time with the team. It's 50 very special cars,” Horner said.

The Adrian Newey-designed RB17 is priced at just £6 million, and with just 50 units available and a massive pre-booking, it could generate over £300 million in revenue for the Red Bull F1 team.

The RB17 is Newey's second hypercar as he had previously designed Aston Martin Valkyrie a couple of years ago.
