Red Bull have reportedly released a major update on Sergio Perez's F1 future. The team has extended their support to their Mexican driver and he's set to continue as Max Verstappen's teammate in the second half of the season. The decision comes as a shock to many given Sergio Perez's recent form and Red Bull starting to fumble their lead in the WCC.
After the conclusion of the Belgium F1 Grand Prix, Christian Horner and Helmut Marko were set to meet to discuss Checo's future. Amidst all the criticism, team boss Horner reportedly said: (quotes via De Telegraaf)
"Checo remains a Red Bull Racing driver, despite all the speculation of recent times. We look forward to seeing him perform on circuits where he has done well before, after the summer break"
Max Verstappen continues to lead the driver's championship against Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc. However, Red Bull have lost a lot of ground against McLaren and Ferrari in the constructors championship owing to Perez's miserable form.

Perez has only scored 20 points since the Austrian Grand Prix in what is arguably one of the fastest cars on the circuit. He is currently 7th in the drivers championship, 19 points behind Lewis Hamilton.
Sergio Perez says he has had "enough of the speculation" post-Belgian Grand Prix
Mexican F1 star Sergio Perez reiterated that his future was not as big an issue as people made it to be. Speaking to the media after the Belgian Grand Prix, Checo shared his mindset in dealing with rumors and reports.
The Red Bull driver said:
"I've said it before, I don't think I'll be responding anymore to any future speculation. I'm here with the team, fully committed. As a team, we have a lot of stuff to focus on to get ourselves ready for the second half of the season."
"I've had enough of this speculation. I've said everything I had to."
Sergio Perez performed exceptionally in the qualifying for the first time in a while at Spa. He qualified P2 behind Charles Leclerc after Max Verstappen's 10-place grid penalty was applied. However, he struggled to take advantage of his qualifying position and finished the race P7.
F1 returns to action after 3 weeks of summer break as we go racing in Max Verstappen's home country, the Nederlands. However, expect a lot of silly season movements during this time. Carlos Sainz earlier kicked off the mid season break by announcing he will be joining Williams Racing next season. The Ferrari star will partner Alex Albon.
Alpine and Audi are still without a driver for next season. Will either of the two teams make a move during this period? We will find out.
