Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel has said he believes US President-elect Donald Trump to be a "bad person." The 78-year-old defeated Vice President and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris in the US Presidential Elections this month.
After his first term as US President ended in 2020, Trump became the third President in US history to be impeached. However, that has not prevented him from getting a second term in 2024. Speaking with RTL, Vettel was asked if he would vote for Trump, to which the former Red Bull driver said:
"No. Because I think he's a bad person. There are many other reasons but I think, in short, I don't think that he's a good person."
Vettel retired from F1 at the end of the 2022 season after two years with Aston Martin. He has been in the F1 paddock on a few occasions since then.
Sebastian Vettel gives his take on Max Verstappen's success in F1
Sebastian Vettel has said he is "happy" for Max Verstappen and his success in the sport. Speaking with NTV, the German driver said:
"I'm happy for him, he's just doing it better than anyone else at the moment. We are also in regular contact and get along well. I think it is a very, very good approach not to use the brute force approach anymore. But to keep an overview, and that’s exactly what I mean. I think if you look a little bit out or a little further away - and I can do that these days - then you see things a little bit differently.
And even if we have had one or two misunderstandings along the way in the past, that is part of it. He just managed to keep his head cool and concentrate on what was really important. And he has simply made the most of the last few years. If you look at his career, he has matured extremely."
Verstappen matched Vettel's record with Red Bull winning four consecutive driver's championships. With another title in the coming years, the Dutchman can surpass the former Ferrari man and take the fourth all-time spot for most F1 championships.
