The seven-time world champion shocked everyone in the world of motorsports with his announcement, given he had been racing with the German team for over 12 years, and had been associated with them for over two decades.

Ever since the news broke out in early February, there has been massive anticipation among the fans of both the British driver and the Tifosi. Recently, the Italian media reported that Lewis Hamilton would be staying in Ferrari founder Enzo Ferrari's house in Fiorano whenever he would visit the factory in Maranello.

The Italian media believed that Hamilton would become only the second driver after Michael Schumacher to give in such a privilege. However, British media outlet The Race quashed these reports and claimed that the 39-year-old would not be staying in Ferrari founder's house.

Speaking with Gazzetta dello Sport, the Frenchman revealed:

“It wasn’t difficult actually. Ferrari has always been in his thoughts in some ways and now the stars have aligned. But he comes to win, not on vacation. And I’m convinced that we have everything to try.”

The 105-time race winner was also full of praise for Vasseur and spoke about their history, adding (via PlanetF1):

“I’ve got a great relationship with Fred. Obviously I raced with him in Formula 3, and we had amazing success in Formula 3 and also in GP2, and that’s really where the foundation of our relationship started. We just always remained in touch.
“It was really cool to see him step into the Alfa [Romeo] team and then when he got the job at Ferrari I was just so happy for him, and I think just the stars aligned. I think it really wouldn’t have happened without him, so I’m really grateful and really excited about the work that he’s doing there.”

Lewis Hamilton will join the team at the start of next year given he has sponsorship commitments with Mercedes till the end of the current year.
