Mercedes dropped a new video on social media featuring team principal Toto Wolff to celebrate New Year's Eve. The Austrian boss addressed the fans to share his excitement ahead of the new season, and the comment section was filled with praises for Wolff.
The Silver Arrows endured a tumultuous season in 2024. The past year began with the unexpected update on Lewis Hamilton's future as the seven-time world champion announced his departure. Moreover, on track, Mercedes struggled to match the pace and performance of the car compared to its rivals.
A few upgrade packages before the summer break offered a glimmer of hope as the team won three races. However, in the second half of the season, they saw a decline, finishing fourth in the Constructors Championships.
Meanwhile, ahead of the 2025 season, the Brackley-based outfit shared a video message on social media, featuring team principal Toto Wolff. Dressed in a blue suit, Wolff shared his excitement for the new year with fans.
"New year. New chapter. Time to write the story."
Fans reacted to the video and dropped comments filled with praises for the Austrian team boss.
'Stop seducing everyone, Mr. Toto," a user commented.
"Whatever you say, handsome 😍😍😍," another fan commented.
"Stop it, I'm blushing," a fan also commented.
A few fans also adored Toto Wolff's blue suit.
"Blue is definitely his colour," wrote a user.
"The reason im staying here 🧎🏽♀️," another user commented.
"Fine fine fine............... ❤️," a fans also said.
Toto Wolff, a 52-year-old team principal, joined Mercedes in 2013. Lewis Hamilton also joined the team around the same time, and their partnership proved to be historic. Together, they won six Drivers Championships and eight Constructors Championships.
However, the dominant era came to an end after the 2021 season, and since then, the Silver Arrows have been struggling to stay competitive. Lewis Hamilton's departure from Ferrari is another turning point that Wolff will have to manage in the forthcoming 2025 F1 season.
Toto Wolff sets realistic expectations from Mercedes' rookie
Mercedes will have a new driving pair for the 2025 F1 season as 18-year-old Andrea Kimi Antonelli will replace Lewis Hamilton. However, team principal Toto Wolff has been realistic with his expectations of the rookie. Speaking to Auto Motor und Sport, he said:
"If you expect him [Antonelli] to be in pole position in Melbourne, win the race, and immediately compete for the championship, then the risk is high because that won't happen. If we take into account that he is only 18 years old, very talented, but needs to grow and make mistakes first, the risk is less."
Kimi Antonelli crashed on his F1 practice debut at Monza. Just 10 minutes into the session, he spun and slammed his W15 into the barriers. However, despite the setback, Wolff and the team are confident in the rookie's raw pace and promising talent.
