Aston Martin recently revealed a Fernando Alonso-commissioned special variant of their supercar Valour. This new variant will be called the Valiant.

At the moment, the car is still in production and Aston Martin only plans to create 38 of them, making it a limited-edition machine. As per the team's official statement, the car is personally commissioned by their F1 driver, Fernando Alonso.

The Valiant is powered by a 745 PS 5.2-litre Twin-Turbo V12 engine. The engine is then connected to a bespoke 6-speed manual transmission. Since this is a road-legal, track-specific supercar, it features all-carbon fiber bodywork and special aerodynamics to increase downforce and reduce weight.

Its design is inspired by the iconic Aston Martin 'Muncher' that participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans during the 1970s.

In Aston Martin's official post, the company's commercial officer Marco Mattiacci spoke highly of their new car.

“Valiant is a modern masterpiece. A creation of Q by Aston Martin, inspired by a racing legend and conceived using the latest F1® inspired technology, exotic materials and obsessive weight reduction,” Mattiacci said.

While its design resembles the 'Muncher', many fans instantly pointed out on social media that the new Valiant looks like a futuristic Mustang, the iconic car from Ford.

Here are some of the comments:

"That's a Mustang," a fan wrote.
"Looks like a futuristic ford mustang," another added.
"That’s a Mustang. Right down to the taillights," a follower chimed in.

Some fans also pointed out how Aston Martin now has three cars named after the three V-bomber aircrafts during the Cold War: Valiant, Vulcan, and Victor. One also said the company conducts a photo shoot with all three cars in one picture.

"So that makes the trio of RAF Cold War 'V-Bomber' car names complete :) Vulcan, Victor, Valiant!" one pointed out.
"Aston needs to assemble this, a Vulcan and the Victor, now we have the complete V-bomber trio and we need to see them together," one added.

Fernando Alonso speaks on Aston Martin's new Valiant supercar

Fernando Alonso recently talked about the new Valiant version of the Valour supercar. The Spanish driver himself commissioned the entire Valiant project in Aston Martin.

In the official statement by the team, Fernando Alonso initially talked about how Valour's 110th anniversary inspired him to create a more extreme version of the car, which was both track-focused and road-legal.

"Valour was a spectacular celebration of Aston Martin's 110th anniversary, and stirred me to create a more extreme, race car inspired version that was track focussed, while also delivering a thrilling drive on-road," Alonso said.

He added how Valiant was conceived from his passion for driving. He also praised the Aston Martin team that made it possible to develop the car.

Alonso is currently ninth in the Formula One Drivers' standings with 41 points to his name. He finished 12th in the Championship's last race, which was the Spanish Grand Prix.

"Valiant is born from my passion for driving at the limit and I have enjoyed working closely with the Q by Aston Martin team on both the design and technical specification and believe we have created a masterpiece," he added.
