F1 fans have reacted to Lewis Hamilton's response to Toto Wolff's "shelf life" comments. The Mercedes driver said he didn't have much to say about the German's comment, but the Silver Arrows boss has been supportive of him during his stay at Brackley.
In Matt Whyman's recently published book, "Mercedes F1: Life in the Fast Lane," Wolff said that "everyone has a shelf life." The comments have come after the British driver decided to break his long-standing relationship with Mercedes and join Ferrari in 2025.
As the comments led to much discussion in the F1 fraternity, the Silver Arrows boss clarified his stance, saying they were taken out of context. Ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix in Nevada this weekend, Hamilton was asked about his thoughts on Wolff's comments.
Hamilton said,
“I don’t really have much, I spoke to Toto earlier. I have not seen the news, if I’m honest, up until this weekend, so I haven’t been keeping up to date with it. I think he’s clarified his point, and you know Toto has been massively supportive over the years so it doesn’t really make any bearing on.”
Following this, fans reacted to the seven-time world champion's comments on social media.
A fan wrote,
"Meanwhile Toto should built him a Statue in front of Brakley."
"He’s not even bothered," wrote another fan.
Another fan opined that Hamilton needed to stop "being political."
"He needs to stop being political about Toto and just call that idiot out" the fan wrote.
Here are some more fan reactions:
"Love his response, he definitely covered all angles," wrote a fan, reiterating the same.
Another fan wrote on the same line, "This is why he’s the goat. This was a helluva response!
"Goat mentality!!" A fan wrote.
Mercedes have signed Kimi Antonelli as Lewis Hamilton's successor. Antonelli is all set to join the Silver Arrows on a multi-year contract from 2025.
Lewis Hamilton says "nothing can take him down" amid recent difficulties on the track
Lewis Hamilton has experienced turbulent times since the 2022 F1 season. From finishing the race at the back of the grid to going through two entire seasons without a victory, the seven-time world champion has seen all sorts of challenges.
Between his 2021 Abu Dhabi heartbreak and the 2024 Silverstone jubilance, Hamilton has experienced a rollercoaster of emotions. So much so that he feels invincible amid all any criticism.
This has come amid the British driver's comments on his underwhelming race weekend in Brazil in November this year. Speaking about this, he stated ahead of the Las Vegas GP this weekend,
"There's been so many things that are said about me, there's been so many micro-aggressions - obviously not from my boss because he's been supportive over all these years and we've achieved a lot together - but I mean in general, within the media and through it all, and nothing can take me down."
Lewis Hamilton will move to Ferrari at the end of this season having signed a multi-year contract with the Prancing Horses earlier this year. He will replace the Williams-bound Carlos Sainz and join Charles Leclerc.
