Williams F1 team members and employees at the factory were delighted when Carlos Sainz was announced as the new driver alongside Alex Albon for the 2025 season. The Spaniard's future was the hottest topic of conversation in this year's driver's market as he was the most sought-after driver.

The three-time race winner took his time to choose his next destination after he was let go by Ferrari in favor of Lewis Hamilton for the 2025 season and beyond, at the beginning of the season. Although the 29-year-old wanted to get a seat at a top team like Red Bull or Mercedes, he had to reportedly choose from among the likes of Audi, Alpine, and Williams.

In a video being shared on social media, while addressing the factory at Grove, Williams F1 team principal James Vowles Carlos Sainz as the team's new driver, to the delight of the employees.

Meanwhile, in a message shared on his social media account, Sainz said it had been an "intense few months" as he navigated his way to decide to join Williams F1. He said:

"Hi everyone. Today I'm announcing that I will be joining the Williams family from 2025 onwards. As you guys know, it's been an intense few months combining racing with having to decide my future, but now I'm 100 percent committed and confident that Williams is the right place for me to spend my next few years.
"I really believe in the project. I really believe in the progress that has been done. And from the 1st of January 2025, I will be pushing flat out to try and bring this team back where it belongs."

Williams F1 team principal gives his take on Carlos Sainz not joining Red Bull and Mercedes

Williams F1 team principal James Vowles stated that top teams like Mercedes and Red Bull should have gone for Carlos Sainz as their second driver for the 2025 season.

As per the BBC, Vowles said:

"Red Bull have a constructors' championship at risk - I would have Carlos alongside Max [rather than Perez]. Mercedes have more info than I do. It’s more than likely that they are very confident in the direction they will be traveling in. Whether that will be Max or Kimi, I’m unsure - but they’re not fools.
"Red Bull will also have reasons behind it that I won't be aware of because they are multiple world champions. They don’t make decisions lightly, but I was surprised." he added.

Sainz is currently P5 in the Driver's Championship with 162 points after 14 races and three Spirnts, has stood on the podium five times for the Ferrari F1 team, including his stunning race win in Australia at the beginning of the season.
