Formula 1 fans in Belgium had the chance to be a part of Brad Pitt's upcoming movie F1. Fans in Block A, B, and C of Gold 1 of the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps cheered for Pitt as the Oscar-winning actor's character went on to win the imaginary Belgian Grand Prix.
Formula 1 is in Belgium for the 14th race of the 2024 season, and so is the F1's crew and APXGP, Pitt's team in the movie. The crew on Friday took shots of fans cheering as Pitt, whose character is called Sonny Hayes, 'won' the Belgian GP:
Footage of fans cheering for Pitt surfaced on the internet and on a video shared on X (formerly called Twitter), fans can be seen waving the APXGP flag after Pitt/Hayes' victory. Notably, the F1 crew, in collaboration with Belgian GP organizers and Liberty Media, announced details of the film shoot, before Friday's FP2.
"This weekend at Spa filming is continuing for the summer major movie, F1, which comes out next summer," the statement said. "Today from 11:55-12:35 a key scene is being filmed on the grid with one of the fictional APXGP cars in front of the Gold 1 grandstand in the shot."
"The movie production would be hugely grateful to those ticket holders in blocks A, B and C in Gold 1 to be in their seats from 11:35 to be part of the making of a major Hollywood movie! Please make sure you are in your seats from 11:35, ready for cameras to roll at 11:55. The production team will let you know more when you're there!"
Lewis Hamilton is working on the movie as co-producer, and it is set to hit theaters in mid-2025. Besides the $400 million-worth Brad Pitt (as per Celebrity Net Worth), the cast also includes Damson Idris, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Neils, Samson Kayo, and Kim Bodina.
What's special about the F1 movie? Brad Pitt revealed details
When the teaser of the F1 movie came out during the 2024 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, fans jumped to the beat of "We Will Rock You," as Brad Pitt burnt the rubber of his F1 car.
While fans were happy about Guenther Steiner's cameo, the Hollywood star revealed the most exciting part of the movie. The camera tricks of Joseph Kosinski, also the director of Top Gun: Maverick, will be a special addition to the visuals:
"Tell you what’s amazing about it," Pitt said. "You’ll see the cameras mounted all over the car. You’ve never seen speed, you’ve never seen the G-forces like this. It’s really amazing.”
Hamilton also added on Kosinski's role in the movie,
"Joe (Kosinski) is an incredible director. If you just think of what he has done with that in terms of the dog fights you saw with those jets, which was pretty epic, bringing that technology and that viewpoint into our world, I think it is going to be amazing."
Warner Bros and Apple Original Films are producing the movie with an estimated budget of over $300 million.
