Watch: Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc share a moment during the Ayrton Senna tribute run

Soon-to-be Ferrari teammates Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc were spotted sharing a moment during the tribute run for Ayrton Senna organized by former four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel ahead of the Imola Grand Prix this weekend. The sport remembered one of its greatest drivers who was sadly killed in a crash 30 years ago at the same track while driving for Williams F1.

The Mercedes man Hamilton, who would join Ferrari in the 2025 season, was spotted having a quick chat with his future teammate Leclerc, while also being accompanied on a bike by his former Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas.

In a video clip shared on social media, we can see the trio enjoying their company and having a brief chat during the tribute run.

While everyone on the Italian team would hope that Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc would continue with their cordial dynamic after they became teammates next season, former McLaren mechanic Mark Priestley had a different perspective.

Speaking with OLBG, Priestley claimed that the equation between the drivers might change if the Ferrari delivers a fast, racing-winning car next year. He said:

"If the Ferrari becomes the best car, that's when it becomes very tricky. I've never seen a situation like that where the drivers don't fall out and cause problems within the team. It's a competitive environment, and the holy grail is the championship. "
"If your competitor is the guy on the other side of your garage with the same overalls, he's your enemy and not your teammate. Leclerc and Hamilton will both start with massive respect for each other, but it could play out on the race track."

Mark Priestley claimed that Charles Leclerc could not afford to hand over the reins of the Ferrari F1 team to Lewis Hamilton next season and take a backseat role.

As quoted by the aforementioned source, the Brit said:

"Charles Leclerc can't afford to let Lewis Hamilton come in and be the main man at Ferrari. Leclerc is reasonably experienced now, he has a few years under his belt and is not a rookie. If a driver accepts they're going to be the second driver of the team, you sign your own death warrant and lose performance from that. "
"Leclerc needs to come into the team next year, thinking he'll be better than Hamilton. F1 is a sport in which a huge part is technical with that car, but a huge part is the driver's confidence in his own ability," he added.

It would be fascinating to see if the Monegasque driver would struggle against the seven-time world champion in the same machinery, or if he gets the better of the British driver in the same team.
