Lewis Hamilton received a grand welcome to Mercedes' factory at Brackley after winning the 2024 F1 British GP. This was his first win after nearly three years (945 days).

The race at Silverstone was extremely thrilling to watch. Top drivers like Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton, Lando Norris, and George Russell were engaged in a four-way battle for the race win. In addition, the constantly changing weather pushed teams to come up with creative pitstop plans and brought out the best in all 20 drivers.

Mercedes eventually managed to pit the seven-time world champion at the right time for the right tires, while Hamilton showcased his on-track prowess over his rivals to win the British GP.

It was his first triumph in nearly three years since his last victory came in Saudi Arabia in 2021. The long-awaited victory left the Mercedes driver in tears. On the victory lap, he was crying as he talked over the radio with his team.

A few days after the race, on July 10, Lewis Hamilton arrived at Mercedes' factory at Brackley. He received a massive round of applause in the main hall of the factory. Every team member who worked in the factory was delighted with the Brit's long-awaited victory. Both the drivers' and constructors' trophies that were given to Hamilton and Mercedes, respectively, were also placed in front of Hamilton, along with the British flag he donned after winning the race.

Lewis Hamilton hopeful to consistently fight at the front after the British GP win

Lewis Hamilton hoped Mercedes could fight at the front of the grid in the upcoming races after his British GP win on July 7, 2024.

Mercedes started the 2024 season on the back foot as they tried to get out of the midfield and chase their rivals like Ferrari, McLaren, and Red Bull. In the first half of the season, they drastically closed the gap to the top teams. George Russell won the Austrian GP while Lewis Hamilton took the chequered flag at the British GP.

As per Race Fans, Hamilton admitted that the Mercedes W15 was still not the fastest car on the grid but hoped that future upgrades would improve it further. He further stated that he hoped he and the team could fight for more race wins during the rest of the season.

"There’s still a long, long way to go. The car, by no means, is the quickest car on the grid right now. I think we are super close and I think hopefully with the next upgrade, perhaps, we will be in an even stronger position to really, really be fighting at the front row more consistently," Hamilton said. After the British GP, Lewis Hamilton stands in eighth place with 110 points. Meanwhile, Red Bull's Max Verstappen leads the table with 255 points.
