Lewis Hamilton ignored FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem after winning the 2024 F1 British GP on Sunday (July 7). The seven-time world champion shook Ben Sulayem's hand, but quickly moved away from him.

The British GP was a thrilling race to witness. There was a four-driver battle for the race win between George Russell, Lewis Hamilton, Lando Norris, and Max Verstappen. Additionally, the changing weather conditions forced teams to get creative with their pitstop strategies and brought out the best in the drivers.

Eventually, Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton managed to place all the pieces of the puzzle correctly and win at Silverstone. This was the Brit's first win in nearly three years (945 days). His last race win was in Saudi Arabia in 2021.

After an emotional chat with his team through radio on the victory lap, Hamilton exited the car and started removing all his racing gear before being interviewed. During that time, FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem approached the seven-time world champion to congratulate him. However, Lewis Hamilton half-heartedly shook hands with Ben Sulayem and quickly moved away from him.

He was then congratulated by current world champion Max Verstappen and other drivers as well.

Lewis Hamilton pens a heartfelt message to fans after winning the British GP

After winning the 2024 F1 British GP, Lewis Hamilton wrote a wholesome message for his fans on his official Instagram account.

He expressed his utmost love for his fans who supported him at Silverstone. He also praised Mercedes for working hard on the car and making it a race-winning machine in both Austria and Britain. He concluded with his iconic motto "Still We Rise".

"YES! 945 days since the last win and it’s finally come home. SILVERSTONE I LOVE YOU. There’s no crowd that deserves this more. This is love, this is family. Thank you all for the love and support. Massive shout-out to the team as well," Hamilton wrote.
"Everyone in the garage and back at the factory have given long hard hours for this result. It’s not been easy but it’s brought us back-to-back wins for the team. Most importantly we didn’t lose hope. We didn’t give up. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU KEEP GOING. STILL, WE RISE," he added.

After winning the race at Silverstone, Hamilton scored 25 points. However, he remains in eighth place in the drivers' championship table with 110 points in total. The table is still led by Red Bull's Max Verstappen with 255 points.
