McLaren driver Oscar Piastri reminisced about his first meeting with former Australian cricketer Ricky Ponting in a segment during the India vs Australia Test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The Aussie driver went back to his home country to spend the holiday season with his family and enjoy a bit of downtime away from the track during the off-season.
In his second year on the track in F1, the 23-year-old had many moments of success, including two race wins in Baku and Budapest, and multiple podium finishes. He also finished P4 in the driver's standings just holding off the late charge from former Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz.
On Saturday, December 28, Oscar Piastri was featured in an interview with Channel 7+ alongside Australian cricket legend Ricky Ponting, who is worth $95 million (according to CelebrityNetWorth). The two reminisced about a picture from a decade ago when the duo did a photoshoot together.
After Ponting said the two had met nearly 15 years ago, Piastri was asked what he remembered of the day. He said,
"I remember the day, I was very, very excited, I don't know how old I was, maybe 6 or 7, so it was a long time ago now. I got a signed poster and a bat, which I still have in my bedroom at home. That was a cool day. I think it's still on the back of the junior cricket rule book. So even if I was playing, I would tell everyone, 'Look I'm on the back of the rules book'" [0:14].

Oscar Piastri gives his take on attending the iconic Boxing Day test match
McLaren driver Oscar Piastri said he has attended several cricket matches and had been a spectator at a Boxing Day test match a while back.
Speaking with Channel 9, the two-time F1 race winner spoke about his love for the game and said:
"I've been [to the Boxing Day Test] once before but only a couple of years ago. I came to a few 20/20s and one-dayers when I was a kid but then I was away for ages in Europe. It's nice to be back and it's my first time properly out in the middle during the cricket season, not footy season."
Oscar Piastri described himself as "more of a bowler than a batter" while speaking about his abilities on the cricket ground.
He had previously demonstrated his prowess in the sport in a Sky Sports video alongside his teammate Lando Norris and got the better of the Brit's team.
