Scenes from Brad Pitt's F1 movie trailer and Tom Cruise's Top Gun: Maverick were recently compared. Several parallels were drawn between the shots in both films.
Joseph Kosinski, the director of films like Tron: Legacy and Top Gun: Maverick is currently working on a film on F1. The film will be produced by Warner Bros. Production and Apple Original Films.
The feature's production started in 2023 and the filming team was allowed in several Grand Prix. Since the story showcases a fictional squad trying to make in the sport, they were allowed to shoot their fictional team's cars and race around real tracks.
Recently, the official X handle of the fictional F1 team posted a video comparing some of the shots of the upcoming movie's trailer and Kosinski's other popular feature, Top Gun: Maverick. The original video was created by The Film Zone and was posted on Instagram.
Refer to the comparison video below:
In the video, several shots in both films looked extremely similar, clearly showcasing that Kosinski follows a certain type of artistic style when it comes to cinematography. From a close-up shot of both Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise to the action shots of both the car and the fighter jet, several similarities were clearly visible.
Lewis Hamilton on working with Brad Pitt during the production of F1 film
Back in April, GQ released a video with Lewis Hamilton where the seven-time world champion talked about working with Brad Pitt for the F1 film. The Mercedes star is one of the executive producers in the film and helped both Pitt and Damson Irdis with how to drive cars around tracks.
Hamilton explained how he taught the Hollywood star how to brake and take the apex on a corner, and other aspects of racing. He also shared how both went to a racing track in Los Angeles where they drove racing cars.
"I've seen 'Interview with a Vampire' a thousand times, seen 'Top Gun' and all these great movies. Then to be standing with Brad and talking about racing and learning about racing, explaining to him the turning point to the braking point to apex and all these different things," Hamilton stated.
"Then being with Brad and seeing him drive in LA when we went to this track. I showed him around and nearly put the car in a wall. He's got a knack for it already, so he's just been working on honing that skill," he added.
The movie's name, F1, was recently announced and it is scheduled to be released in theatres on June 25, 2025, internationally and in the United States on June 27, 2025.
