Fans reacted to Toto Wolff's revelation that he was aware of Lewis Hamilton's move to Ferrari. In an episode of the High Performance podcast, Toto Wolff revealed that Carlos Sainz's father leaked the news of Hamilton joining Ferrari in 2025.

The news of Hamilton's decision to move to Ferrari sent ripples across the F1 fraternity, with fans and experts scrambling to understand the reason behind it. Like everyone else, Wolff was also taken aback by the unforeseen decision. However, he revealed he knew it was coming after Sainz Sr.'s update.

"The old man Sainz called me and said this is what’s happening," Wolff recalled. "Then there were a few drivers that rang me up that didn’t before. (I) sent a text to Fred Vasseur saying ‘you’re taking our driver?’ (and) I didn’t get any response, very unusual for Fred. He’s a good friend."

Fans on social media reacted to these comments, with some questioning the veteran racing driver's intention. Here are some reactions taken from X, formerly Twitter:

Reacting to the revelation, a fan wrote, "What a snitch!"
"Am I the only one who finds Sainz Sr’s action inappropriate ?? Who the hell are you ? Acting like a grandma!!" another fan wrote.
"I don't have anything heavy against carlos but the fact that his father snitched to wolff yet wolff somehow still considered charles (who already extended his contract with ferrari) to fill lewis' seat more is really funny," a fan wrote.
"Sainz camp will never not be messy,"a fan commented.
"Of course its the Sainz family," another fan exclaimed, reacting to the leak.
"I see sainz sr tried to pull a stunt,"a fan wrote.

Lewis Hamilton is all set to move to Ferrari in a multi-year deal starting from 2025. He will join Charles Leclerc and replace Williams-bound Carlos Sainz.

According to F1 insider Matt Whyman in his book Inside Mercedes F1: Life in the Fast Lane, Lewis Hamilton stayed inside his car for nearly 20 minutes before meeting his Mercedes team members after announcing his Ferrari switch. With the announcement, he decided to cut a 12-year-long time with the Silver Arrows.

"His team means a great deal to him - all his engineers, Bono, all the team, they mean such a lot to him. Every year he takes them paintballing, just a pre-season bonding experience, and it was all set up to go so he had to go to the paint-balling," Hamilton said. "He said to me that he arrived and he saw them all waiting to go in. He said he could not get out of the car for 20 minutes."

Mercedes announced Kimi Antonelli as Lewis Hamilton's substitute. The young Italian prodigy is currently racing in F2 and will join the Silver Arrows next season to race alongside George Russell.
