"Yay vroom vroom": Adrian Newey's wife reacts to his latest creation, the Red Bull RB17 hypercar

Red Bull chief technical officer Adrian Newey's wife Amanda was visibly excited after the RB17 hypercar was unveiled on day two of the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Newey had been working on the hypercar for the last couple of years and was the final piece of design he had on his plate before he leaves Red Bull.

Newey is moving from the Austrian team after 19 years, which saw them claim seven driver's and six constructor's championships, all won in Newey-designed machinery from 2006. but with RB17, the storied chapter comes to a close.

The hypercar has been fully made under the banner of Red Bull Advanced Technologies, which includes the delivery of all 50 units. Amanda couldn't hold back her excitement as she tweeted:

On Red Bull's website, Adrian Newey said about his latest designed car:

“I had been mulling around the idea to take on the challenge to design our very own Hypercar, from concept to delivery, for many years and it has been a magnificent project and journey. For it to finally be the day we pull the covers off and see the birth of the RB17, is truly remarkable.

"The RB17 Hypercar embraces everything we stand for: undeniable power, speed, and beauty. It is very adaptable in its abilities, and we made sure to design it as a two-seater so that the thrill of driving at F1 speeds can be enjoyed with a friend or partner.” he added.

Red Bull team boss gushes about Adrian Newey's RB17

Red Bull principal Christian Horner is excited to unveil the RB17 as he called the project one of the "most authentic" for their Advanced Technologies division.

As quoted by the aforementioned source, the Brit said about Adrian Newey's RB17:

“We are excited to reveal the RB17 at Goodwood Festival of Speed, a project that is one of the most authentic and exciting that Red Bull Advanced Technologies has embarked upon to date."

"Combining technical innovation, achievement, and emotional appeal, the RB17 is a landmark car. I’m very proud of the Team and am delighted to see it make its world debut. We expect the RB17 to be a future classic.” he added.

The Adrian Newey-designed hypercar is touted to produce similar lap times to an F1 car and can reach speeds in excess of 350 km/h.

It weighs less than 900 kg, with more than 1200 horsepower at its back, and has a carbon-fiber monocoque chassis along with a semi-stressed mid-mounted V10 engine which can produce revolutions up to 1500 per minute.
