Yuki Tsunoda has claimed that the choice of Daniel Ricciardo or Liam Lawson as his future teammate is something he has no control over and wouldn't mind either of them alongside him. The Japanese driver has secured his F1 future for 2025, as he will be staying with RB.

The fate of who his teammate is going to be is yet to be decided. Daniel Ricciardo has not performed at the form he was supposed to. The Australian was put in that seat to see if he was good enough to be promoted to Red Bull. As it turned out, the driver has been unable to prove that.

Daniel has more or less been the slower driver at RB in the first 10 races, with Yuki Tsunoda holding a distinct advantage over his teammate. Liam Lawson on the other hand has been left in the lurch. The New Zealander impressed everyone in the limited opportunities he got last season and is waiting on the sidelines for a seat on the grid.

Yuki Tsunoda was asked about his view on the choice between Daniel Ricciardo and Liam Lawson, and the Japanese driver said that he had no control over what happened and who was picked. He told RacingNews365,

"It's not a thing I can decide or control. I don't mind with any team-mate but, for sure, Daniel is giving a lot of technical feedback and everything and is, of course, an important influence for us. There is a lot of positive things that we got, and probably some of the things we were able tp benefit from is because of him. But at the same time, it's up to them really."

Yuki Tsunoda on the impact of having Daniel Ricciardo at RB

Yuki Tsunoda did however have a lot of positive things to say about Daniel Ricciado's stint at RB. The Japanese driver pinpointed how the Australian helped in working out the glitches and improving the car throughout the weekend, something that has been a great contributor to the team.

Personally, Yuki talked about how Daniel Ricciardo has shown him how to better control emotions, which was a concern for him earlier when he joined F1. He said,

"I think we have good communication and we're able to always turn it around in the week, and in qualifying we were able to put it all together as a set up and everything. So that will, for sure, affect consistency. And I think also he's more of a complete driver in general, like his emotional control, everything. For example, last couple of years, I started in a pretty bad position, especially with my emotional control."

He added,

"How much you can be consistent throughout the weeks, and after he became my team-mate, he is very, very strong at that and was doing much better than me. For sure, those things I learnt, I got from him which affected my consistency throughout the year, especially my emotional control will affect the performance moods throughout the week. I think just for me, being able to grow race by race from his performance knowledge and everything."

Daniel Ricciardo's future still hangs in the balance at RB this season. The Australian has shown glimpses of form, and unless he takes the next major step, and builds on this, he could lose his seat.
