The Mercedes GP team will feature a new livery on their cars this weekend in Barcelona.
Team chairman and co-owner, Niki Lauda, confirmed the news by saying that they wanted the car to look like the ‘Silver Arrows’ of the early ’50s.
He said, “We wanted the car to look even more the ‘Silver Arrow’. And we believe this is also good for the team because a new look brings new motivation.”
Not only are the team changing the livery, they’re also bringing in some noticeably huge upgrades to the car for the European sector of the season.
“During the European season we want to increase by one to two tenths per track. We did a good job for the beginning of the season. Now it’s vital to develop the car faster than the competition,” the Austrian affirmed.
He went on to quash talks about Mercedes being the favorites in Spain by saying, “No, we’re not the favourite. Pirelli is bringing new tyres and no one knows yet how they work — they’ve been very thin with information.“
