Three time World Champion and current non-executive chairman of Mercedes AMG F1 team has recently said that he expects current Championship leader and fellow three time champion Sebastian Vettel to seal his 4th title at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in November.
In a recent interview the Austrian said, “Vettel is no longer fighting anyone. I am committing myself: he will be World Champion in Abu Dhabi, the third last race. His lead is already big enough after Spa, where he dominated even though the Red Bull was not really suited to the track.”
“His best circuits are still yet to come. Red Bull won’t be the favourite at Monza but on all other circuits he has the best car.”
He was referring to Red Bull’s strongest circuits of the year, namely Singapore, Japan, Korea and India which are yet to come. Vettel claimed four consecutive victories on these circuits last season.
The combination of Vettel and Red Bull works magic on these circuits, and we have to wait and see if this year too, Vettel seizes the opportunity and increases his Championship count well before the season finale in Brazil.
Vettel leads the Championship by 46 points, with his nearest rival being Ferrari‘s Fernando Alonso. Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton is placed third and is 58 points behind Vettel.
With 8 races remaining, this season isn’t over just yet. Alonso, Hamilton and Raikkonen are all there waiting to pounce on any mistake Red Bull or Vettel make.
