The 06th September has witnessed three Formula One grand prix events in the history and all of them being Gran Premio d’Italia, first in 1964 and second in 1970 and third in 1987.
- The 1964 Italian grand prix was round 8 of the total 10 and was held at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza. The race had total of 78 laps with 20 drivers starting the race; John Surtees of the Scuderia Ferrari won the 2nd race of the season starting from pole position. Surtees was placed third in the championship standing in 1964 with 28 points from 10 races.
The 1964 Italian grand prix was last race for Mario de Aaujo Cabral of the team Derrington-Francis and Maurice Trintignant of the team Maurice Trintignant.
- The Italian grand prix at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza in 1970 was round of 1 of 13. The race had 68 laps with 24 drivers starting the race and only 8 managed to finish. Clay Regazzoni of the team Scuderia Ferrari won the first race of the season starting from third on the grid. He finished fifth in the drivers’ championship with 21 points from 5 starts with two podium finishes.
The 1970 Italian grand prix win was first ever for Clay Regazzoni and the race start was last for Ignazio Giunti of team Scuderia Ferrari and Jochen Rindt of team Gold Leaf Team Lotus.
- The 1987 Italian grand prix was round 11 of the 16 and was held at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza. The race had 50 laps to complete with 26 drivers starting the race and 16 managing to get chequered flag. Nelson Piquet of the Canon Williams Honda team won the race starting from pole position. Who won the championship title of the season with 63 points through 3 wins and 9 podiums finishes.
The race was a debut for Franco Forini with the team Osella Squadra Corse.
