The word “Dominance” falls short of a strong meaning to describe Sebastian Vettel’s current position in Formula One. In 2011, he had nine wins in store after 14 races but this year it is one less. This doesn’t matter; he is again proven to be as dangerous as he was two years back. At an age of 26 achieving the heights that he has achieved is incredible. Somebody as young as him can now get inspired from him that nothing in this world is impossible. He is a great example for the young generation. Even after being so talented and skilled, a lot many people hate him.
Is it right to boo an exceptional talent? This brings negativity in the sport which is loved all around the world. The driver will remain the same even after the booing, so why are the fans choosing this way to cut down their frustration of watching their heroes lose again and again to this man. A single driving dominating is not new to this sport. Recalling the era of Michel Schumacher, it was the same story then but a huge reason which differentiates these two champions is their racing team. The senior German won his five titles out of seven for Ferrari. He won all the five in a row, and here Vettel is going to win his fourth straight for Red Bull Racing team.
Age factor plays an important role
Recently Schumacher claimed that the only way Vettel can stop the Italian fans from booing him is by joining Ferrari. In the beginning even he was not liked by the Ferrari crowd but as time passed and with his performance he became their hero. Italy has a large fan-base; their emotions come out in the form of booing. Even when Singapore is a tourist Grand Prix— no driver belong to that country— Vettel was booed on the podium of Marina Bay.
“Schumacher was sometimes shockingly a bad sportsman, but we cannot tell that of Vettel. He is just relentless in his drive to win. Unlike Schumacher, he has a great sense of humor. So his lack of appeal is still a mystery for me,” Christan Horner, Red Bull’s team principal said. “Perhaps, it’s age. Vettel is 26 and about to become four-time world champion.”
Vettel is making Formula One boring is the headline in most of the websites and newspapers. Formula One lovers, who are not biased to any driver, can get bored by watching Vettel winning race after race. When there is no action in a race it automatically becomes boring. But my argument is we can tell that in other way round. The other drivers, by not giving him the level of competition are making the sport dead boring. They rate high in getting disliked and not the “Baby-Faced German”.
The answer to the question, how is the season of Formula One going on is very simple these days. People blindly tell that Vettel is ruing the excitement of the sport. His fast car is making the villain when he is actually the lead hero. This is so contradicting; Formula One is all about speed and Vettel’s fast pace is creating problems in his life. Although the hatred and booing will no way affect the very-soon-becoming youngest four-time World Champion but it is sad seeing him receive what he does not deserve.
