According to The Times, Kimi Raikkonen is all set to contest in the final two races despite the Finn threatening to walk away over the team’s failure to pay him the wages.
Lotus reportedly owed Raikkonen a sum of around €17 million but according to the report the team managed to clear the debts following the buying of stakes by Quantum Motorsports Ltd.
“Worry not; he will be back for the final two grand prix thanks to Quantum Motorsports Ltd, which is buying 35 per cent of the financially stricken Lotus team. The cheque is finally in the post after months of suspense,” reported The Times.
Earlier it was revealed that Middle-East backed Quantum will take over 35 percentage of the shares of the team but the deal took longer time than expected as the Quantum’s funds were held-up. As a result the ream wasn’t able to pay their suppliers and Raikkonen.
The Guardian also supported the claims of the reports.
“The good news for him is that a deal appears to have been brokered between his manager, Steve Robertson, and Lotus. If this is confirmed by lawyers, Raikkonen will race in the last two races later in the month,” added The Guardian.
Raikkonen will depart for Ferrari at the end of the season with Pastor Maldonado and Nico Hulkenberg in the frame to replace him.
