The 2024 F1 season is taking place in 24 different tracks across 21 countries. It includes the latest track that opened in 2023, and the oldest in 1921.
Formula 1 has taken itself to new horizons with multiple new circuits being added to the calendar every year. That risks the exclusion of old and iconic tracks like Zandvoort and Spa-Francorchamps Circuits. Before that happens anytime in the future, let's dive to know about the oldest tracks on the 2024 F1 Calendar.
Five oldest F1 tracks in 2024
#5 Zandvoort
Previously known as the Circuit Park Zandvoort, the 2.646-mile-long circuit was opened back in 1948. This track has been the venue for the Dutch Grand Prix for decades.
Located in the dunes north of Zandvoort in the Netherlands, the track has newly found popularity, thanks to Max Verstappen, the defending three-time F1 champion.
#4 Silverstone
The Silverstone Circuit in the United Kingdom is easily one of the most prominent racetracks in the world. The track, also regarded as the home of British motorsport, is a 3.661-mile-long venue and has been operational since 1948.
The circuit has been the venue for the British Grand Prix from the sport's inception (except 1986). Located near the Northamptonshire villages of Silverstone, and Whittlebury, this track houses multiple renowned sectors like Maggots and Becketts, Stowe, Hangar Straight, Hamilton Straight, Vale, Abbey, Wellington Straights and Copse.
#3 Circuit de Monaco
The narrow lanes along the harbor of the Principality of Monaco and around the city streets of Monaco make up the Circuit de Monaco. This 2.074-mile street circuit is the venue of the iconic Monaco Grand Prix, one of the three tracks of the Triple Crown of motorsport.
The city ramps itself up every year for the annual Monaco Grand Prix, as it has been doing every year since 1950, 1951-54 and 2020. The 2.074 miles (slightly improved and different now) was opened in 1929.
#2 Autodromo Nazionale Monza
Known as The Temple of Speed, the Autodromo Nazionale Monza is situated in Monza, north of Milan, Italy. It's a 3.6-mile-long circuit that opened in 1922. It's the second oldest track in the 2024 F1 calendar.
This iconic race track has been the venue of the Italian Grand Prix since 1950, Formula 1's inception (except 1980). It serves as the home race for Scuderia Ferrari, a pioneering Italian motorsport team.
#1 Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps
The 4.352-mile-long Spa-Francorchamps circuit is the oldest racetrack in the 2024 F1 calendar. Having opened in 1921, the track has been the venue for the Belgian Grand Prix since Formula 1's inception.
It stopped hosting races multiple times due to funding issues but returned to bring joy to Motorsport fans. Located in Stavelot, Belgium, the track provides drivers and fans excitement as cars pass through the celebrated Eau Rouge part.
