Red Bull and Ferrari are unconvinced over the tribunal’s verdict and have threatened to run a private three day test in protest to the authority of FIA, after Mercedes were handled softly by the international tribunal on Friday for their involvement in the “Testgate” saga.
The top two teams in the 2013 constructor’s championship, Red Bull and Ferrari, who initiated the investigation after accusing Mercedes of unsporting behavior, are reported to have ‘set out their grievances to Bernie Ecclestone’ after Friday’s verdict was announced and informed the CEO that they are willing to take the risk of a reprimand in exchange for the benefit of three day private testing.
Although reports suggest that Ferrari are threatening as a result of temporary outburst, the Maranello based team are said to be seething about the outcome of the ‘testgate’ saga.
In a post on the team’s official website, Ferrari’s anonymous ‘Horse Whisperer’ blogger openly opposed the ruling, arguing: “Today we learned, that even if one is guilty and in this case that is an indisputable and verified fact, there is always a way of muddling through as best one can.
“One only has to suggest to the judge what the penalty should be and even better, why not make it something light like a rap across the knuckles.
“It is somewhat perplexing to say the least to see that the guilty party can get away virtually scot free for having derived “an unfair sporting advantage.”
Red Bull are yet to officially register their opinions regarding the tribunal’s verdict.
