Another theory emerged recently regarding the dominance of Red Bull in the second half of the season suggesting that the team formulated a new way to lift the floor beneath the driver’s feet for better performance.
The observation was made by former Stewart and Jaguar designer Gary Anderson that the RB9’s floor called tea-tray was running very hot at slow speeds. And according to him the floor had a technology to lift itself as it gets hot, thus giving the team an advantage of a lower front side height.
Force India also supported this theory and claimed that it would be illegal to use such a technique. And as a result the FIA interfered in the matter and technical delegate Jo Bauer was sent to the India Grand Prix to check on the tea-tray of RB9. But according to reports Bauer cleared the issue and confirmed that the car is legal at the moment.
