REVEALED: Details of Ferrari's car for the 2012 season

One week before the official launch of Ferrari‘s new car for the 2012 F1 season, the details and pictures of the car emerged in the Italian press. The car is expected to be named as F12 or F2012.

Autosprint, an Italian racing magazine, published the details of Ferrari’s next car in its latest issue on Tuesday. As per the report, the new Ferrari ishugely inspired by the McLaren last year. The Italian weekly claims that the car has “many other features that should make it really extreme.” The report is also accompanied with the drawings of, what the magazine claims to be, Ferrari’s car for the next formula one season.

In a bid to challenge the Red Bull, Ferrari seems to have incorporated some revolutionary ideas into the car, if the Italian report is to be believed. “The new Ferrari will have two front flippers, hidden in protective structures and largely inspired by the McLaren MP4-26 last year. But narrow bellies, narrower than the current regulation (140 cm) and many other features that should make this time really extreme,” said the report. Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali had asserted last year that the new Ferrari F1 car will be “extreme”.

The magazine also says Ferrari has innovated to exploit the safety regulations for crash structures, producing a wing like aerodynamic effect with the sidepods. It further reveals that the car has “the original front suspension , tighter stomachs, a lower belt line and a curious circular air vent at the end of the bonnet , under the wing, which resembles that raised by Red Bull in 2011″.

The report also mentions that the final look of the car will be smooth. Previously the car’s design was criticised and dubbed as ugly due to a hump on the nose.

Another report in La Gazzetta dello Sport had earlier revealed that the 2012 Ferrari has long, low and narrow radiators and sidepods, with a lower seating position for the drivers.

All eyes are now on the Ferrari event on the 3rd February where it is scheduled to launch the car.
