Sebastian Vettel cruised to his latest world title, wrapping up the championship just before the midseason break. So huge was his lead during the races that special tea stalls were installed at appropriate areas of the track for the champion to have rest before resuming the race again. With Vettel, Red Bull also claimed the constructor’s championship, whose budget is now rumored to be more than the combined budget of all the teams present on the grid.
Vettel after his smooth victory was greeted by loud cheers from Christian Horner and Adrian Newey, who remained the sole occupants of the circuit during the podium celebrations.
Such has been Vettel’s dominance that even F1 pundit Martin Brundle has touted him on par with all time greats like Rajnikanth and Chuck Norris.
While it was a straight forward season for Vettel, Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen, teammates at Ferrari sat out most of the season fighting with their back pain instead of the championship. Also, Lewis Hamilton finally succeeded in winning a race after again splitting up with Nicole Scherzinger, albeit when Vettel waited too long at the tea stall.
The ferocious duo of Lotus drivers Grosjean and Maldonando have set the track alight with their professional accident skills and remain the most interesting aspect of the sport. They have also jointly set a new record of crashing with every car on the grid, including the safety car.
This year also marked the retirement of Nico Hulkenberg, who finally bade goodbye to the sport after numerous alternate spells with Force Inda and Sauber
Michael Schumacher, alarmed by Vettel’s dominance has decided to make another return to the sport and show to the world and to Vettel “how winning is really done”.
Devoted F1 fans bored to death by Vettel’s dominance, have now switched their attention to more interesting sports like Golf, Test Cricket and Sailing among others.
This season, again displayed to everyone or to those still watching about the dominance of Vettel and Red Bull in the sport.
