Singapore, Sep 23 - Sahara Force India’s Paul di Resta achieved his best result in Formula One with a fourth place finish in the Singapore Grand Prix here Sunday.
Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel won the race for the second consecutive year while Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso finished second and third in a 61-lap race cut short by two laps due to multiple safety car interventions.
Di Resta, whose previous best was a sixth place, challenged Alonso towards the end before coming home 3.8 seconds slower than the championship leader.
Di Resta’s teammate Nico Hulkenberg finished 14th after a collision with Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi, causing a rear tyre puncture.
With the Scot’s effort fetching 12 points, Force India moved to 75 points while staying at seventh place. They are still 25 points adrift of Sauber, who drew a blank from the race.
It was a second fourth place result in the month for the Silverstone-based unit after Hulkenberg’s impressive show at Spa-Franchorchamps.
