Singapore GP: Hamilton eyeing Podium despite poor qualifying

Lewis Hamilton has set his sights on a podium in tomorrow’s Singapore Grand Prix despite a ‘frustrating’ qualifying session that leaves him fifth on the grid.

From the onset it was clear that Red Bull will be the team to beat this weekend and it was Mercedes who took the charge to give them a fight. In the end, it was Nico Rosberg in the sister Mercedes who got his car on the front row alongside Sebastian Vettel.

Lewis Hamilton, meanwhile, was forced to relinquish in fifth place. After the session, the 28 year felt that car was capable of getting better results.

“Qualifying didn’t quite come together for me this evening. I tried my best out there but I just didn’t have a great feeling in the car and ultimately I wasn’t fast enough.”

“Clearly the car was quicker than what I was able to get out of it tonight so, of course, it’s frustrating not to have qualified closer to the front as Nico did. So not a good day for me but that’s life.” said Lewis Hamilton

However, the 2008 World Champion is still positive about his chances in tomorrow’s race and believes a podium finish would be ‘amazing’.

“We’ll turn today’s negative into a positive overnight and I’ll be pushing as hard as I can in the race tomorrow.”

“There are still people ahead of me that we can beat and our target will be to get on the podium. That would be amazing.” the Brit added.
