Lewis Hamilton has taken pole position for the 2012 Singapore Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton’s fastest lap in q3 was over half a second quicker than the Williams of Pastor Maldando. Hamilton’s team mate Jenson Button lines up on the second row of the grid in P4.Speaking of Williams, Pastor Maldanado surprised everyone with a very quick lap in q3 and he will be starting from P2 on the grid. While his team mate Bruno Senna didn’t make into q3 after crashing his Williams in q2.
Sebastian Vettel, surprisingly couldn’t keep with his practice form and could only manage third position on the grid. Mark Webber also failed to deliver and will line up P7 on the grid.
World Championship leader Fernando Alonso got the maximum out of the Ferrari and he lines up fifth on the grid alongside the force India of Paul Di Resta, who did a brilliant job enroute to the sixth fastest time. Di Resta’s teammate Nico Hulkenberg failed to get into q3 and will line up P11 on the grid.
Romain Grosjean did a brilliant job to get into q3 after his intial spin in q2 and was probably bit too aggressive on his flying lap in q3 and so lines up eight on the grid. Kimi Raikkonen couldn’t make in to q3 which was a big surprise and he lines up 12th on the grid.
The Mercedes duo of Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg line up ninth and tenth on the grid. Both, the Mercedes drivers didn’t set a time in q3 and will start on the harder compound of tyres. So, it will be interesting to see how their strategy works.
Felipe Massa as usual couldn’t match Fernando Alonso’s pace and failed to make into q3 and as so line up P13 on the grid.
The Saubers had a terrible day with Sergio Perez in 14th place and Kamui Kobayashi in 18th place. Behind Sergio Perez were the usual suspects, the Toro Rosso duo of Daniel Ricciardo and Vergne line up on 15th and 16th places respectively.
Vitaly Petrov managed to outqualify Kovalinen while at HRT Narain Karthikeyan outqualified Pedro De la Rosa for second consecutive time this season.
Overall, we are set for an exciting Singapore Grand Prix tomorrow. Enjoy!
