20 of the 60 trophies stolen from the Red Bull factory were recovered in a lake near Sandhurst. Thieves had raided the factory 10 days ago and made away with the trophies in a 4 X 4 through the building’s entrance. A Sandhurst native spotted the trophies and informed the Thames Valley police.
"We estimate about 20 trophies have been recovered but we are liaising with Red Bull to establish the exact number as some of the trophies are damaged," Thames Valley Police detective constable Chris Oakman told the BBC. The F1 championship and constructors prize were not at the factory during the theft.
The Austrian team won four constructors titles in a row from 2010-11 season which also saw Sebastian Vettel clinch the Drivers’ championship on all those four occasions.
Thames Valley Police has asked that anyone with any information about the burglary or finds a trophy to come forward.
