The accident is just another challenge for Schumacher, says Mika Hakkinen

Former Formula One Champion Mika Hakkinen has said that the ski accident of Michael Schumacher is another challenge that the German must overcome.

Schumacher and Hakkinen used to be rivals back in the late nineties and Hakkinen was the last driver then to win the world title before Schumacher’s dominance.

“Your accident is now just another challenge. You have to fight hard again, just like we both used to do on the track,” Hakkinen wrote in an email to Schumacher.

Hakkinen, who was in a coma himself after an accident in qualifying session of Australian Grand Prix in 1995, also added that he recovered with the support of his family and friends.

“With the help of my family and the professional support of the doctors. I am sure you are getting the same kind of help. Do me a favor: just this once doesn’t try to beat the clock. You don’t have to post your best time in this race. You have to take all the time you need. Take it easy, Mika,” he added.
