The first qualifying session of the season saw Lewis Hamilton take pole position by six tenths of a second from Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg. Rosberg had the edge on Friday in practice but the Brit turned the pendulum towards his favour today, setting the fastest time in practice and then qualifying. Behind Mercedes, came the distant Williams of Felipe Massa followed by the Ferraris of Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen. The McLarens occupy the last row of the grid after a nightmare qualifying session for drivers Jenson Button and Kevin Magnussen.
