Sebastian Vettel came on top in an amazing three-way battle between him, Webber and Grosjean to win the 2013 Japanese GP. This was his fourth win at Japan, ninth of the season and 34th of his career.
The German managed his tyres from the start of the race and hence could successfully complete the race on a two stop strategy. Grosjean, meanwhile, made his first pit stop before the operating window of a two-stop strategy and thus had to extend his second stint. That allowed Vettel to close on him and he was able to take the lead of the race after making his second stop on lap 37. Webber made three stops on his way to the chequered flag, a strategic decision he questioned after the race.
