Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton became a two-time Formula 1 world championship after taking the chequered flag at the season closing Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. His teammate, Nico Rosberg faced the agony of defeat after the ERS on his W05 Hybrid failed midway through the race, relegating any chances of him putting on a fight to Hamilton. The German showed great sportsmanship by going to the green room and congratulating the Brit for the title.
The two Williams drivers made it onto the podium with great drives from second row of the grid. Daniel Ricciardo started the race from the pitlane and finished it in fourth place, showing his class yet again. Jenson Button's fifth place driver helped McLaren secure fifth in the championship from Force India with their drivers taking sixth and seventh after a blistering final stint on the option tyres.
